As in-person runway shows are a distant memory, AREA NYC transformed their internet platforms into virtual fashion experiences for the launch of RTW 01 – a collection previously referred to as “resort.” The digital debut included twelve video clips of the “Wonder Woman of Vogue,” transgender Afro-Puerto Rican dancer Leiomy Maldonado, demonstrating her signature moves in the brand’s undeniably glam garments.

Designers Beckett Fog and Piotrek Panszczyk continued to explore the limitless possibilities of crystals with RTW 01, and the results are glamorously camp. Although considerably more wearable than many other AREA collections, all in all, RTW 01 maintains the influential indie brand’s dedication to eclecticism while offering more timeless silhouettes like straight-legged trousers, cropped blazers, and an iteration of the Little Black Dress.

With its lingerie-influenced twist on classics, RTW 01 serves as a balanced prelude to AREA’s inaugural couture collection. See our favorites below.

Crystal Baguette Cropped Blazer
A rework of a closet staple, this cropped, broad shoulder blazer features crystallized ribcage detailing on the hem, lending lush appeal to this otherwise subtle piece.
Crystal Stitched Track Pants
This classic, jersey-knit track pant seamlessly blends AREA’s sparkles with today’s athleisure trend.
Asymmetrical Crystal Halter Mini
Who couldn’t use another Little Black Dress?
Draped Baguette Crystal Slip Dress
One of the more bold looks from RTW 01, this crystal slip dress nods to the infamous naked dress, made notorious by Bob Mackie’s muse, Cher.
