The category was Desert Inferno at Vitalize, the Earth-inspired fashion show. Attendees filled Chicago’s Westside gem, the Lab on Lake, with curiosity and anticipation. While Pilsen Vintage, XuXu Fashion, and Jame Langford exhibited truly inspired presentations, many showgoers also came dressed to impress. The belle of the night was no doubt Julia ( @goldfiishie) who repurposed a ruffled vintage skirt as top and took home the title of #VF2019’s Best Dressed.
Our house photographer, Daniel Delgado, captured some of the most chic looks of the night. Check them out below.
Wanting to incorporate a dramatic silhouette in her look, Julie reimagined this flouncy skirt (sourced at Belmont Army) as a top, and simply stole the show. Isn’t she darling?
According to Jane, styling like a character is the best way to attack a themed event. This 50’s inspired cheetah look conjured up her alter-ego, Jeanette.

Issac’s cool personality was reflected in this sleek and comfortable look. Attention to subtle details like shoes, bags, and patterning transforms this outfit from casual to stand out.
Emulating the legendary fashion house YSL was the ultimate goal of this look, but rather than selecting a structured, on-par top, Anthony gravitated towards a soft, silk inspired piece to create a luxe feel.
After conceptualizing for an hour over what to wear, this femme-loving lady decided to keep things liberating and vibrant, like pop-art. Mia’s look is all about female empowerment, support, and expressing one’s self to the fullest extent.
Angela channeled her childhood angst to create this minimal yet edgy look – a vibrant Dragon Ball Z inspired jersey paired with slick latex pants, chunky boots, and a badass haircut. We’re into it.
Rather than selecting deep tans and harsh silhouettes, oh-so-posh Taylor interpreted “Desert Inferno” as light and flowy with romantic shapes and a pop of Tiffany Blue. Even though she only got dressed in five minutes, her look proved that some of the best outfits are made quickly.
A little bit of glam, a little bit of western, and a pop of color came from the flee queen, Ameerah last night. She decided to wear pieces from her wardrobe that don’t get much sunlight. Contrasting rustic hues with metallic accents was an ingenious decision and the solid colored clogs provided a strong finish.
