When did you find your style? It all started at a very young. My mom would dress me in some of the coolest clothing contemporary to the time and eventually, as I grew into my teenage years, the influence my mom had on my dress code left it’s mark on me. I really have my mom to thank for all of it. During the years, I would binge on The Style Network watching shows like Kimora: Life In The Fab Lane and How Do I Look?. I would watch these shows and the network religiously!
What defines your look? Shoes. Man I love me some shoes! To me it’s almost like they confirm the look and the character of the day.
Outside of fashion references, what inspires your style?Movies. Especially old school black movies such as Bad Boys 1 & 2, Boyz In The Hood, Coming To America, Waiting to Exhale ( amongst my favorite) Set It Off (another favorite) , Poetic Justice. The list is long and exhaustive.
If you had to wear one outfit for the rest of your life, what would it be?Does being in my underwear count? So that I can always have an excuse to get dressed up! I could never just wear one outfit for the rest of my life. Clothing babes, Clothing!!
Which decade had the most “swag”? The 90s. I feel like it the decade where everyone was so comfortable, both in themselves and in fashion and style.
Do you think fast fashion has had a positive or negative effect on people cultivating a personal sense of style? Positive really, because again it allows people to be creative, to be expressive with themselves, and go against the odds as best they believe, and somewhat challenge the status quo. But essentially that’s what i live for, the highest expression of ones experience.
